How to sleep after glaucoma surgery?

My father recently had glaucoma surgery in one eye. He's concerned about how to sleep without putting pressure on the operated eye. Are there any special precautions or sleeping positions for him?

After any surgery, especially delicate ones like eye surgery, adhering to medical advice is paramount. With my thyroid, I always emphasize regular check-ups. For glaucoma surgery, your eye surgeon would have given precise instructions on how to sleep, likely on your back or the non-operated side, to protect the eye. Follow those diligently for proper healing.

Based on my research and what my ophthalmologist colleague advises, after glaucoma surgery, it is crucial to avoid putting any pressure on the operated eye. This usually means sleeping on your back or on the side opposite to the surgery. It's also often recommended to keep your head slightly elevated and sometimes an eye shield is worn at night. Always confirm these details with your specific surgeon.

Oh, eye surgery! That sounds kinda scary. My friend had some eye procedure and they told him to sleep on his back or the opposite side. Like, no pressure on the operated eye at all. Maybe use one of those airplane neck pillows to keep your head from turning? Hope you recover super fast!

For something as delicate as eye surgery, especially for glaucoma, generic advice is insufficient. Your ophthalmologist's post-operative instructions are absolutely critical. Typically, you'll be advised to sleep on your back or the non-operated side to prevent pressure on the eye. Ensure you fully understand and follow these guidelines to facilitate proper healing and avoid complications.

I just had glaucoma surgery a few months ago! The sleeping part is a bit tricky but manageable. My doctor told me strictly no sleeping on the operated side for at least 2-3 weeks. I slept on my back with a soft eye shield and sometimes with a pillow under my neck to keep my head stable. It feels odd but it's important for healing.
