My back between the shoulder blades was screaming after I stood in a long queue for biryani yesterday. I had to lie down on a hard floor and have a hot cup of tea to get some relief. Moral of the story: rest your back and maybe get your food delivered next time.

My smartwatch tracked a lot of sedentary hours, which perfectly matched when my mid-back pain started. I began using a foam roller on my thoracic spine for five minutes every evening, and it really opened up my chest and back. Highly recommend tracking your screen time and taking active breaks.

My orthopedist explained that the muscles between the shoulder blades (rhomboids) get stretched and weakened when we slouch. He advised doing doorway chest stretches and gentle scapular squeezes to strengthen the area. This helps bring the shoulders back into correct alignment safely.

While simple ergonomic adjustments and warm compresses can provide temporary relief, a doctor's advice is always best for persistent pain. It is important to ensure there are no underlying spinal issues. Do consult a specialist if the discomfort does not subside in a few days.

When I had persistent pain between my shoulder blades, I went to a reputed multi-specialty hospital to get it diagnosed. The doctor clearly explained it was a posture-related muscle strain and prescribed safe physiotherapy. Please ask your doctor clearly before starting any aggressive stretches.

Haan, sitting on the office chair all day makes the back totally stiff, na. Just place a small cushion behind your mid-back for support. And do try to apply a warm heating pad for 15 minutes in the evening, it works wonders.

I completely agree with using a foam roller. Rolling out the mid-back area gently really helps pop those stiff knots between the shoulder blades.

As someone managing diabetes, I find that poor posture and lack of movement make my muscle stiffness worse. I stick to low-sugar meals and do simple arm extensions every hour to keep the blood flowing between my shoulders. It's always best to keep moving and consult your physician regularly.
