How to relieve tooth pain after crown?

Just got a new crown placed a few days ago, and now the tooth underneath is quite sensitive and achy. It's not excruciating, but it's constantly there. What can I do to relieve this tooth pain after crown placement?

It is very normal to have some soreness for 2-3 days after a new crown is fitted. Try drinking warm water and let the area rest, it will settle down soon.

Yes, a little pain after a crown is common. Doing gentle salt water rinses twice a day helps a lot in reducing the gum soreness.

The body takes time to adjust to new changes. Take deep, slow breaths to calm your nerves, and avoid biting hard foods on that side. Let the healing happen naturally.

Mild sensitivity is expected after a crown placement as the nerve heals. However, if the pain is sharp when you bite, the crown might be sitting too high. It is best to visit your dentist to get the bite adjusted.

I just got my first crown yesterday and it hurts slightly when I swallow. Is this normal or should I go back to the dentist clinic immediately? I am a bit worried.

No need to worry, just avoid using that side of your mouth for chewing hard rotis or snacks for a few days. Basic lukewarm water with salt works best for soothing the gums.

My son had the same issue after his crown treatment last month. I gave him soft khichdi and kept reminding him not to touch the area with his tongue. It took about three days to settle down.

Don't worry too much! 🌟 It usually goes away in a couple of days. Just eat soft foods like ice cream or cold yogurt to soothe the area! 🍦

I totally feel you. After spending so much money and time on a crown, getting pain is so disappointing and stressful. Just give it a few days, the tissue around it is just irritated from the procedure.

As someone managing diabetes, I know dental healing can take a bit longer. Keep your sugar levels stable and stick to healthy, soft foods like plain curd or soup. Don't ignore it if the inflammation increases.
