How to reduce heartburn in pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester, and the heartburn has become unbearable, especially at night. It's making it hard to sleep. My friends say it's normal, but I'm looking for ways to reduce heartburn in pregnancy.

My cousin went through this recently and she was literally crying from the burning feeling. She started having cold milk in small sips and it actually helped her sleep. Also don't lie down flat right after eating, keep your head elevated.

I had terrible burning during my second pregnancy but it is very common and nothing to worry about. Just have small meals every few hours instead of full heavy plates. Walking slowly in the veranda after dinner always gave me relief.

Meri wife ko bhi bohot extreme acidity hoti thi dinner ke baad. Haan, spicy and oily food bilkul bandh kar diya tha humne thode time ke liye. Coconut water subah subah peena shuru karo, thoda safe and easy relief milega na.

Just delivered last month and honestly, the heartburn was my biggest enemy. My doctor told me to stop taking tea/coffee completely and sleep on my left side. Fennel seeds (saunf) chewing after lunch also made a huge difference.

Pregnancy acidity is the worst, haan na, I completely understand your pain. I used to keep small pieces of dry ginger in my mouth or drink lukewarm water with fennel. Don't worry, once the baby is here, this burning will magically go away!

My wife's gynecologist explained that progesterone relaxes the stomach valve, causing acid reflux. The doc advised eating 5-6 mini meals instead of 3 big ones and suggested safe antacids instead of self-medicating. Avoid citrus fruits and carbonated drinks after 6 PM as they trigger it badly.
