How to reduce fever in baby naturally?

My baby has a fever and I'm really anxious. I'm looking for natural and safe methods to reduce his temperature without giving him too much medication. What home remedies are effective for infants?

When my baby had a fever last month, I panicked and called our pediatrician immediately. He explained that a fever is just the body fighting the infection, but we can make the baby comfortable. He strictly told me not to use cold water or ice for sponging because it makes them shiver and raises internal temperature. Instead, use lukewarm tap water on a washcloth and gently wipe their forehead and underarms.

Please be very careful with natural remedies for infants. My niece had a mild fever and we tried home remedies for two days, but it suddenly spiked and she had a febrile seizure. If your baby is under 3 months, or if the fever is high and they are lethargic, skip the home remedies and take them to a doctor immediately. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

When you are juggling work and a sick baby, you need practical steps. Skip the complex setups and just do a simple lukewarm sponge bath for 10-15 minutes. Ensure the room has good ventilation but no direct draft from the AC. Keep a thermometer handy to log the temperature every few hours so you can share exact details with the doctor if it doesn't settle.

I totally get it, seeing your tiny baby with a fever is so incredibly stressful. Please try to stay calm. Just dress your little one in a single layer of loose, breathable cotton clothing and keep the room at a comfortable temperature. Make sure they are nursing or drinking formula frequently so they don't get dehydrated, that's the most important thing right now.

My sister was handling my nephew's fever last week and she was sweating more than the baby lol. She just used a damp cloth to wipe his neck and forehead, and kept him in light cotton clothes. No heavy blankets at all. It actually worked pretty well to cool him down till we got the medicine.

Beta, don't worry too much. Humare ghar pe toh bachon ko halke gile kapde se poch dete hain, usey gili patti bolte hain. Keep the fan very slow so they don't catch a chill, and feed them milk after small intervals. If the baby is crying a lot, please show them to a doctor nearby.

I completely understand how terrifying it is when your baby feels hot to the touch, your mind immediately goes to the worst place. It is okay to feel anxious, but take a deep breath. Try giving your baby skin-to-skin contact, as your own body temperature can actually help regulate theirs. If they seem too drowsy or aren't wetting diapers, please call the doc right away to ease your mind.

Normally I'd say give them some warm soup, but if it's a tiny baby, milk is their only feast! Just stick to frequent breastfeeds or formula to keep their fluids up. When they are sick they might lose their appetite, but don't force feed them. Keep them cozy and hydrated, and the fever should go down soon.
