How to read liver enzyme results?

My recent blood test showed some liver enzyme results that my doctor mentioned are slightly off. I got the report, but I don't know what these numbers mean. How do I read liver enzyme results?

My doctor told me that when reading liver enzymes, we must look primarily at SGOT (AST) and SGPT (ALT). These enzymes spill into the blood if liver cells are irritated or damaged. Normal levels are typically under 40-50 U/L, so any significant elevation warrants a proper clinical checkup.

I always advise people never to self-diagnose based on liver enzyme numbers. Elevated levels can happen due to simple things like medicine side effects or fatty liver, but they can also indicate more serious issues. For your own safety, please take the report to a qualified gastroenterologist.

Haan na, these liver numbers can look so high suddenly if we eat too much oily food. Just look at the SGPT and SGOT values in your report. If they are slightly above normal, don't get scared, but definitely consult your doctor, ho na.

Actually, my SGPT was around 80 last month because of junk food, yaar. I freaked out, but the doctor said it's very common with mild fatty liver. Just cut down on alcohol and outside food, drink lots of water, and it usually comes back to normal.

I had high liver enzymes last year and tried everything from drinking warm lemon water to eating fresh amla daily, which really helped soothen the digestion. But while home remedies support recovery, you still need your doctor to identify why the enzymes rose in the first place.

I totally get it, seeing those high enzyme numbers on the screen can make you feel extremely anxious. My levels were double the limit once and I thought the worst. Just remember that the liver is highly resilient and recovers fast with the right care and advice.

Bhai, report me SGOT aur SGPT naam ke do test likhe honge, unko dhyan se dekho. Agar unke aage koi bada number likha hai jo normal range se zyada hai, toh iska matlab liver pe thodi sujan hai. Ghabrao mat, doctor sahib ko dikha lo, woh theek kar denge.
