How to read hepatitis b test results?

My blood test results for hepatitis B are in, and I'm a bit anxious. Can someone please tell me how to read hepatitis B test results and understand if everything is okay?

My gastroenterologist explained that we must look at three main markers: HBsAg, anti-HBs, and anti-HBc. If your HBsAg is positive, it means you have an active infection, either acute or chronic. A positive anti-HBs, however, means you are immune, either through successful vaccination or recovery from a past infection.

Reading blood reports can bring some stress, which isn't good for your system. If you see 'Non-Reactive' next to HBsAg, it generally means you are safe from the virus. Keep your body healthy and immune with regular deep breathing, but definitely let a physician check the final report to be sure.

Haan na, these test names are so confusing to read on our own. Just see if HBsAg is negative. If it is positive, please don't get scared, there are proper treatments available today. Just go see a good specialist, ho na.

Don't sit and search every term on Google, it will only give you tension. Just open your report and look for 'HBsAg'—if it says 'Non-reactive' or 'Negative', you don't have Hepatitis B. If it says 'Reactive', just take the report directly to your family doctor without overthinking.

I know waiting for such reports can be quite stressful. Please don't worry too much. Once you get the paper, show it to your doctor, they will explain everything clearly and guide you on the next steps.

Hey, I had to get this tested recently before a minor surgery. Basically, you want your HBsAg to be non-reactive. If you have been vaccinated, your Surface Antibody (anti-HBs) will show as positive, which is actually a good thing because it means you are protected!
