How to measure belly pregnancy?

I'm pregnant with my first baby, and my friends keep comparing belly sizes. I know it's not a competition, but I'm curious. How do doctors or even mothers usually measure belly size during pregnancy? Is there a specific way?

Your doctor will measure the fundal height from the pubic bone to the top of your uterus during regular checkups. It is the most reliable way to track growth.

During my visits to Fortis, the obstetrician used to measure the belly fundal height in centimeters starting from week 20. If you have any doubts about the baby's growth, ask your doctor clearly during the scan so they can explain the growth percentile.

With a busy work schedule, I find it easiest to just track my growth milestones during the scheduled ultrasound scans. The scan results give exact baby weight and size, which is much more precise than trying to measure the belly size yourself.

I totally get it, you constantly wonder if the baby is growing at the right pace. Try not to use a regular measuring tape at home because it depends on bloating and posture, which can cause unnecessary worry. Trust your doctor's clinical measurements.

In my experience, my belly popped out very late because of my tall height. My mother-in-law used to worry, but during the regular scans, the doctor confirmed the baby's growth was absolutely perfect. It really varies from person to person.

Haan na, we keep checking the mirror every day to see if the bump has grown. But actually, only the doctor can measure the correct fundal height with their tape. Don't stress too much about the belly shape.

I used to panic during my second trimester because my belly looked so small compared to other pregnant women on Instagram. But my doctor showed me how they measure the fundal height, and everything was perfectly normal. Every woman carries differently!

Please make sure your partner is resting well and not stressing over how big or small her belly looks. Just attend your regular prenatal appointments together, let the doctor measure the growth, and focus on keeping her happy and healthy.

When my wife was expecting, we thought her stomach size was growing too fast, but the doctor laughed and said it was mostly gas from the prenatal vitamins! Just let the gynecologist handle the tape measurements during the monthly visits.

Instead of buying expensive pregnancy tracking gadgets or hiring private consultants, just get your basic government hospital or maternity clinic checkups done monthly. The doctor's manual measurement of the bump is free, simple, and highly accurate.
