How to make facial hair a stroke in photoshop?

I'm trying to create a realistic portrait in Photoshop for my art project, but I'm struggling with the facial hair. Does anyone know how to make facial hair look more like actual strokes and less like a blur?

Just use a custom hair brush preset and set the brush dynamics to 'Fade' or 'Pen Pressure' in Photoshop. Doing it strand by strand manually is a waste of time unless you are doing high-end commercial retouching.

I don't know much about these modern computer photo programs, but please make sure you don't strain your eyes by sitting too close to the screen. Rest your eyes every 20 minutes, that is most important.

Instead of buying expensive Photoshop brush packs online, you can easily find free custom stubble brushes on deviantART or Behance. Save your money and just tweak the spacing settings yourself.

Haan na, setting up the brush settings is the most annoying part. You have to select a very small brush size, like 1 or 2 pixels, and then apply a subtle stroke path to make it look realistic.

I usually create a new layer, draw a single fine line, and define it as a brush preset. Then I play with the angle jitter so the facial hair looks natural and goes in different directions.

Make sure you take quick stretching breaks when editing for hours on end. Sitting in one place focusing on tiny details can really mess up your neck and shoulder posture.
