How to make a baby sleep?

My little one, who is 8 months old, has been having trouble settling down for naps and at night. It takes so long sometimes. What are some proven methods to help a baby sleep peacefully?

Just pretend you have very important work to do, and they will sleep instantly! Seriously, try gentle rocking in a dark room with zero screen time.

Ensure the room temperature is comfortable, not too hot or cold. A warm sponge bath before bedtime can help relax the baby's muscles naturally.

I totally get it, the exhaustion of trying to soothe a crying baby at 3 AM is real. Try gentle belly massage, sometimes gas prevents them from sleeping.

I have forgotten what my own sleep feels like because of my baby. Shushing loudly right next to their ear works best for us, try that tonight.

I used to feel like a failure when my baby wouldn't sleep, it's so draining. Please remember you are doing your best, just hold them close and stay calm.

I was reading that keeping a consistent daytime nap schedule actually makes night sleep much easier. Apparently, overtired babies find it harder to fall asleep.

Do not give any over-the-counter sleep drops or herbal syrups to babies. If they have persistent sleep issues, take them to a certified pediatrician.
