How to lose chemo weight gain?

My mother completed her chemotherapy last year, and while she's recovering well, she gained a lot of weight during the treatment. We're trying to help her get back to a healthy weight. What are some safe ways to lose chemo-related weight gain?

Ayyo, it is a difficult time for you. Please focus on your recovery first, beta. My cousin also went through this. Family will say drink this, eat that, but please, trust your oncologist and a good dietician only. They know best for your body post-chemo.

I was also very concerned about weight changes during and after my treatment. It's very common, so please don't panic. Your body has gone through so much. Focus on regaining strength with a balanced diet and light activity as advised by your medical team. The weight will stabilize.

This is a really important question. I know someone who gained weight after chemo too, and they felt very self-conscious. Did anyone here manage it successfully without straining their body? What kind of diet changes helped?

After chemo, sometimes hormone levels can be affected, which might impact metabolism. It might be worth discussing with your doctor if any hormonal checks are needed, like thyroid. Always good to rule out underlying causes for weight changes.

Chemo recovery is extremely sensitive. Please don't try any internet remedies or crash diets. Your body needs proper nutrition to heal. Consult your oncology team or a specialized dietician for cancer patients. They will guide you safely.

Oh, this sounds really tough. I'd be so worried about doing something wrong and affecting my recovery. It's probably best to ask your doctors directly about managing weight after chemo. They'll know what's safest for you given your medical history.
