How to know your kidney is healthy?

I don't have any specific health issues, but I want to be proactive about my health. What are some signs or tests that can tell me if my kidneys are functioning properly and are healthy?

For me, with high BP, regular kidney function tests are a must because BP affects kidneys a lot. Healthy kidneys don't show many symptoms early on. But if you have swelling in feet/ankles, fatigue, changes in urination, or muscle cramps, get checked. Best way is routine blood and urine tests, my doctor always says.

It's completely normal to worry about vital organs like kidneys, the uncertainty can be very stressful. You can't tell for sure if your kidneys are healthy just by how you feel, especially in early stages. The only reliable way is through blood and urine tests. If you're concerned, please speak to your doctor to ease your mind.

Usually, healthy kidneys don't give you problems. But if you have swelling, frequent urination changes, or extreme tiredness, then it's good to get tests done. A doctor can guide you.

My doctor at Manipal Hospital always stresses the importance of routine check-ups for kidney health. The only definitive way to know is through specific blood tests (creatinine, GFR) and urine tests (for protein). Symptoms like fatigue, swelling, or changes in urination usually appear much later. So, clearly ask your doctor to include these tests in your annual health check.

Good question! While a balanced diet and staying hydrated are crucial for kidney health, you can't really 'feel' if they're healthy or not until issues are advanced. Blood tests (like GFR and creatinine) and urine tests are the only accurate ways. For athletes, staying hydrated is extra important to protect kidneys during intense workouts.

Oh, I totally overthink kidney health too! Like, am I drinking enough water? Are my habits good? But honestly, early kidney disease is often silent. So, for peace of mind, it's best to get annual check-ups that include blood and urine tests. That's the only way to genuinely know.

Please don't trust any random 'natural cleanse' or internet remedies to judge your kidney health. They are vital organs. Early kidney problems often have no obvious symptoms. The only real way to know is through specific tests like a urine test and a blood test for creatinine levels. Always verify with a doctor, not unproven home methods.
