How to know if weight gain is muscle or fat?

I've been working out regularly and lifting weights, and the scale is showing that I'm gaining weight. I'm trying to build muscle, but how can I really tell if this weight gain is muscle or if I'm just putting on fat?

This is something I often wonder about, especially with PCOS, where weight management is tricky. If your clothes feel tighter but you also feel stronger and more toned, it could be muscle. But for a proper understanding, consulting a nutritionist or trainer for body composition analysis would be better than just guessing.

Yeh toh sabki problem hai. Pehle toh main sochti thi ki agar weight badha hai toh fat hi hoga. Lekin jab exercise karna shuru kiya toh strength badhi. Body bhi firm lagne lagi. Agar apko strength badhti feel ho rahi hai aur kapde acche fit ho rahe hain, toh ho sakta hai muscle ho. But for exact, you need proper tests.

Simple hai, agar aap gym jaa rahe ho aur strength badh rahi hai, aur body compact feel ho rahi hai, toh chances hain ki muscle gain hai. Agar sirf weight badh raha hai aur body soft ya jiggly lag rahi hai, toh fat gain ho sakta hai. Body composition analysis bhi hota hai, thoda kharcha hota hai usme but accurate hota hai.

For something like this, don't just rely on guesswork. When I had questions about my body composition, I asked my doctor at the hospital. They can guide you to a DEXA scan or a body fat percentage test. These are much more accurate than just weighing yourself.

It's a common dilemma! If you're actively working out, especially strength training, and feeling stronger and more toned, it's likely muscle. Fat gain usually makes clothes feel tighter all over and can show up as softer areas. For precision, body composition tests like BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) or DEXA scans are available at many gyms or clinics.

If you're training, strength increases indicate muscle. If not, maybe fat. Body fat percentage test will tell you.
