How to help baby sleep through the night?

My 9-month-old wakes up several times during the night, and I'm really struggling with sleep deprivation. Someone told me about sleep training, but I'm not sure. How can I help my baby sleep through the night?

You do not need to buy those expensive baby sleep monitors or fancy musical swings to get your baby to sleep. Just focus on a basic, free routine: feed them well before bedtime, dim the room lights, and make sure their diaper is dry. Practical planning saves money and works best.

In our homes, we gently massage the baby's feet with warm mustard oil or coconut oil before sleeping. It relaxes their tiny body so much and helps them sleep deeply. Make sure the room is not too hot or too cold, just comfortable.

I remember crying in the middle of the night because my baby wouldn't sleep and I was so utterly exhausted. Please know that you are not doing anything wrong; some babies just take longer to adjust. Try to get help from family so you can get some rest too.

I always believe in taking things step by step and not forcing any strict routines too quickly. Try to keep their daytime feeds active and bedtime feeds calm, and see if that slowly helps them adjust their sleep cycle. Be gentle with yourself and the baby.

A calm environment is essential for a peaceful sleep cycle, for both adults and babies. Keep the room quiet, play very soft instrumental ragas if they like, and gently stroke their forehead. Keeping your own energy calm and relaxed while putting them down helps them feel secure.

My grandmother used to say that a light massage with warm oil followed by a lukewarm water wash keeps the baby's body relaxed. Make sure they are wrapped in a soft, breathable cotton cloth so they feel cozy, like they are in a mother's warm embrace.

Don't overcomplicate things with online sleep training guides. Just ensure the baby is burped properly after the night feed so gas pain doesn't wake them up. Keep the room dark and don't play or talk loudly with them if they wake up for a midnight feed.

Take a deep breath; baby sleep patterns are very erratic in the first year but they do settle down eventually. Try to establish a quiet pre-sleep routine like a warm bath followed by a gentle massage and soft singing. This helps their little brains realize that it is time for a long rest.
