How to get rid of pcos facial hair?

Hi, I was diagnosed with PCOS last year and have been struggling with a lot of facial hair growth, especially on my chin and upper lip. It makes me feel really self-conscious. What can I do to get rid of it permanently or at least reduce it a lot?

For quick cosmetic management, threading or facial shaving is perfectly safe and won't make the hair grow back thicker. But to really slow down the growth, you need to work with a gynecologist who can prescribe medications to regulate your androgen levels. Keep your scalp and face hygiene clean.

Sudden or rapid growth of facial hair should always be evaluated by an endocrinologist to rule out any severe hormonal issues. Please do not start any hormonal pills or supplements on your own without getting a proper blood panel and ultrasound done first.

It was so hard for me to give up my daily sweet treats, but reducing my sugar intake really helped balance my hormones and slowed down the facial hair growth a bit. I still enjoy my spicy panipuri though, just keeping a check on the sweets! It takes patience but diet really plays a part.

I have recently started noticing fine hair on my upper lip and chin, and I'm really nervous about shaving it. Will shaving make it grow back very thick and dark? If anyone has tried laser treatment, could you please share your experience?

My sister was struggling with facial hair due to PCOS, and laser treatment actually worked wonders for her, yaar. It is a bit expensive but totally worth it compared to threading every week. You should definitely check with a good dermatologist once to see if you are a good candidate.

At this age, managing hot flashes, joint pains, and then seeing chin hair in the mirror is just too much work! I just laugh it off, use my trusty epilator, and get on with my day. Don't stress too much about these hormonal quirks, we all deal with them eventually.

My endocrinologist explained that excess facial hair, or hirsutism, is caused by the hair follicles being sensitive to male hormones like testosterone. She prescribed a specific anti-androgen medication along with lifestyle changes to treat the issue from the root. It took about six months to see a visible reduction in growth.
