How to fight perimenopause weight gain?

I'm in my late 40s and I've noticed my periods are getting irregular, plus I'm putting on weight, especially around my stomach. Someone mentioned perimenopause weight gain, so I'm wondering what actually helps.

I started using MyFitnessPal to track my calories and macros, and it really opened my eyes. Also, a good fitness tracker helps remind me to move more throughout the day. Small changes, but they add up, especially when metabolism slows down.

Oh, I totally get it! It feels like suddenly everything you eat goes straight to your waistline, no matter what. It's frustrating. Just know you're not alone in this struggle, many women face it. Be kind to yourself.

Haan, it's a real challenge for many women during that phase. Don't stress too much though.

Please be careful with all the 'quick fixes' you find online. Many are not scientifically backed. It's always best to talk to your doctor or a dietician who can give you personalized advice based on your health.

Having PCOS, I'm already careful with weight. For perimenopause, I hear hormonal changes make it tricky. Focus on gentle exercise and a balanced diet. It's less about drastic changes and more about consistent, healthy habits, always with doctor's input.

I totally panicked when I started gaining weight during perimenopause, thought my body was failing me. But my doctor said it's a very normal part of the process for most women. It doesn't mean you can't manage it, just need to be more mindful about diet and activity. It's not a disaster, just a new phase.

Weight gain can sometimes be a sign of other issues, or exacerbate existing ones like high blood pressure or diabetes. So, don't just try random things. Get a full health check-up and discuss your concerns with your doctor to rule out anything serious and get proper guidance.

This is something I've been thinking about too. Is there any specific type of food that helps reduce the bloating or water retention that comes with it? I feel so puffy sometimes.

My gynaecologist explained that during perimenopause, estrogen levels fluctuate and metabolism slows down, making fat accumulate more around the belly. She suggested increasing protein, eating more fiber, and doing strength training along with cardio. Also, stress management is key, as cortisol can make it worse.
