How to counteract weight gain from birth control?

I recently started on birth control pills, and I've already gained a few kilos, which is really frustrating. My friend also experienced this. Is there anything specific I can do to counteract weight gain from birth control?

Managing hormones at this age is a full-time job, and birth control pills definitely don't make it easier on the waistline! I noticed most of it was just water retention in the first couple of months. I cut down on salty pickles and papad, which helped reduce the bloating significantly.

The hormones in birth control can sometimes disrupt our body's natural balance. Practicing daily gentle yoga and pranayama can help regulate your metabolism and manage stress-induced cravings. Give your body a few months to adapt, and drink plenty of water to flush out toxins.

I kept gaining weight and feeling extremely fatigued on my pills, but I ignored it thinking it was just a normal side effect. It turned out my thyroid levels had also gone completely out of whack. Please get a full thyroid and hormone panel done, and talk to your gynaecologist about changing the pill brand if it doesn't suit you.

I agree, water retention is very common when starting these pills. Drinking green tea and staying active helped me shed that initial bloating.

My wife faced this same issue when she started her pills. We didn't buy any expensive diet plans; we just reduced the oil in our daily cooking and started going for a 45-minute brisk walk together every evening. It helped her maintain her weight without putting any extra strain on our family budget.

Oh, those midnight sweet cravings on birth control are next level! I had to replace my usual late-night ice creams with sweet curd or frozen grapes to satisfy my sweet tooth without gaining weight. It's all about finding healthy swaps so you don't feel like you are punishing yourself.

Let's be real, some birth control pills just increase your appetite like crazy. You have to be mindful of your calorie intake and focus on high-protein, high-fiber foods to stay full. If you've been on it for over 3 months and the weight is still climbing, go back to your gynac and ask for an alternative.

My mother suggested drinking barley water daily to reduce the bloating and heaviness caused by the pills. While that helped with water retention, I still consulted my gynaecologist to ensure the pill was correct for my body type. Trusting the doctor's guidance along with simple home care is the safest way.

Haan na, starting these pills makes you feel so bloated and heavy for no reason. I started drinking thoda warm water throughout the day and avoided outside food as much as possible. It takes some time for the body to adjust, so don't take too much stress, ho na.

I got so terrified of gaining weight that I almost stopped my birth control suddenly, which is a big mistake! Please don't panic, sometimes it is just temporary water weight that settles down in 2-3 months. Talk to your doctor to see if they can suggest a low-hormone option that won't make you feel so anxious.
