How to count my pregnancy?

I just found out I'm pregnant, and I'm so excited! My mother-in-law asked me how many weeks I am, but I'm not sure how to calculate it from my last period date. How do I count my pregnancy?

Look, pregnancy is always counted from the first day of your last menstrual period, not the day you conceived. Doctors calculate it this way because it's hard to know the exact conception date. Do not guess these things at home; go to a gynaecologist and get a proper ultrasound done to confirm the weeks.

My doctor explained that a standard pregnancy is calculated as 40 weeks or 280 days starting from the first day of your last period. She told me that even though you aren't actually pregnant during those first two weeks, it is the medical standard used worldwide. I highly recommend scheduling a dating scan around 8-12 weeks for the most accurate timeline.

Calculating weeks at home using online tools can sometimes give you the wrong picture, which might cause unnecessary stress. It is always safest to visit a proper gynaecologist to confirm the pregnancy and get your due date calculated. If you experience any severe cramping, spotting, or severe dizziness, please go to the clinic immediately.

Hey sweetie, congratulations! Don't stress too much about the exact math right now. Just remember the date your last period started, because that's what the doctor will ask first. Download a nice pregnancy tracking app to see your weekly progress, and make sure you book your first clinic visit soon!

In our family, elders usually count pregnancy by lunar months or traditional calendars, which can get a bit confusing. My doctor clarified that medical professionals go strictly by gestational weeks starting from your last period date. I followed my doctor's calendar for my checkups and scans, which kept everything peaceful and on track.

I tracked my wife's pregnancy weeks using a couple of top-rated pregnancy apps on my phone. You just enter your Last Menstrual Period date, and it automatically breaks down the trimesters, weeks, and even the baby's size. It's super handy, but we still matched those dates with our doctor's ultrasound reports to be 100% sure.
