How to alleviate tailbone pain during pregnancy?

I'm in my third trimester, and the tailbone pain has become really severe, especially after standing or walking for a bit. It makes simple movements like getting up from a chair very difficult. What can I do to alleviate tailbone pain during pregnancy?

My mother-in-law suggested some herbal oils for my tailbone pain, but I made sure to check with my gynecologist first. She advised me to sleep strictly on my side with a pillow tucked between my knees. It really aligns the pelvis and reduces the strain on the tailbone naturally.

If your doctor has given you the green light to exercise, doing some gentle pelvic tilts can really help strengthen the muscles around your lower back and tailbone. Also, a light 15-minute walk daily keeps your joints lubricated. Just don't push yourself and take breaks whenever you feel tired.

Along with using comfortable pillows, make sure you are getting enough calcium and magnesium through your diet to support your bones during this time. Include things like ragi, almonds, and leafy greens in your meals. And of course, keep drinking enough water to prevent constipation, which can make tailbone pain feel worse.

Please be very careful with tailbone pain during pregnancy, especially if it is accompanied by pelvic pressure or any cramping. I had a difficult pregnancy and my doctor strictly warned me against trying any self-treatments or deep massages. It is always safest to describe the exact pain to your doctor during your next visit.

In our days, we used to apply a warm compress using a cloth dipped in warm water over the lower back area to soothe the pain. Avoid sitting on hard wooden chairs or stools completely; always use a soft folded blanket or cushion to sit. Take rest, beta, and do not lift heavy buckets or bags.

Sitting in long office meetings with pregnancy tailbone pain is absolute torture. I bought a specialized ergonomic tailbone cushion for my office chair and it made a huge difference. Also, try to use a standing desk for part of the day if your office has that option.
