How to alleviate hip pain during pregnancy?

I'm in my third trimester, and I'm experiencing a lot of hip pain, especially at night when I try to sleep. It's making it hard to get comfortable. What can I do to alleviate hip pain during pregnancy safely?

Make sure you are getting enough calcium and magnesium through your diet, as mineral deficiencies can make joint pain worse during pregnancy. Foods like ragi, almonds, and leafy greens are great. But please discuss any dietary changes or supplements with your gynecologist first.

Please do not try any deep stretches or prenatal yoga poses you see online without asking your doctor first. During pregnancy, our ligaments are already very loose due to hormones, and wrong movements can cause severe pelvic girdle pain. Let your doctor recommend a safe physical therapist.

Beta, during this beautiful time, your body is carrying extra weight so hip pain is normal. Try sleeping on your side with a thick pillow tucked firmly between your knees to keep your hips aligned. Avoid standing on one leg while wearing clothes or shoes.

During my second trimester, my hips used to ache terribly at night. Personally, what worked for me was taking short, slow walks twice a day and using a hot water bag on my lower back, but never directly on my belly. It helped me get some decent sleep.

I remember crying at night because the hip pain was so bad and I felt like I couldn't even enjoy my pregnancy. It is mentally so draining when you can't even find a comfortable sleeping position. Please know that you are not alone in this, and it gets much better after delivery.

Look, your body is changing and there is no magic cure to make it 100% disappear overnight. Just stop sitting cross-legged on the floor and don't lift heavy buckets of water. Use a pregnancy pillow for side support and take rest whenever you can.
