How often do you have sonograms during pregnancy?

I'm pregnant with my first child, and I've already had two sonograms. My friend said she had more than me when she was pregnant, so I'm a bit confused. What's the typical number or frequency of sonograms during a normal pregnancy?

My wife is pregnant now, first time for us. The doctor told us usually three sonograms are standard: one in the first trimester to confirm everything, one big one around 20 weeks for detailed check-up, and then one in the third trimester for growth and position. We're just following whatever the doctor says, no need to overthink it.

Hey! For my pregnancy, I had about 3-4 sonograms. One in the early weeks for dating, the big anatomy scan in the middle (which was super exciting!), and then another towards the end to check growth and baby's position. Sometimes if there are any concerns, they might do an extra one, but generally, that's the typical schedule. Just follow what your gynaecologist advises, it's usually standard.

Oh, I totally get why you'd ask this. During my pregnancy, I was so anxious and always wanted to see the baby. For uncomplicated pregnancies, usually it's one sonogram per trimester, so around 3-4 total. But if there are any specific concerns, like with my friend who had gestational diabetes, the doctors might do more to monitor things closely. Don't worry, your doctor will guide you best.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including regular moderate exercise (if cleared by doc) and a balanced diet, definitely helps in general well-being during pregnancy. Regarding sonograms, my cousin's wife had about 3-4 standard ones throughout her pregnancy: early, mid-term, and late-term for growth. Any additional ones were only if the doctor had specific concerns to check on. Just follow medical advice.

Sonograms can be a mix of excitement and anxiety, I totally understand. For me, it was usually one main scan in each trimester, so maybe 3-4 total. But I had a few extra towards the end because of some mild complications, and each time I'd feel so worried. It's okay to feel overwhelmed, but remember, they are doing it for your and the baby's good. Your doctor knows best.
