How often do you get ultrasounds during pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester, and my doctor has done a couple of ultrasounds already. My mother-in-law keeps telling me that too many are not good, but I also want to make sure the baby is healthy. How often are ultrasounds usually recommended during pregnancy in India?

My mother always said that pregnancy is a special time, and listening to the doctor is paramount. For my pregnancies, I had ultrasounds usually once in each trimester. Sometimes if the doctor sees something to monitor, like growth or position, they might ask for an extra one. Always follow your obstetrician's advice, my dear.

Eating a balanced vegetarian diet with lots of greens and protein is so important during pregnancy. Regarding ultrasounds, I had one for dating in the first trimester, then one for anomaly scan around 18-20 weeks, and a growth scan in the third trimester. So, usually 3-4 scans total, unless the doctor finds a reason for more. Quality diet also supports a healthy pregnancy!

Oh, ultrasounds during pregnancy! I felt like I was spending more time looking at my baby on screen than actually feeling them kick inside, ha ha! But seriously, with both my kids, it was usually one in each trimester. Sometimes one or two extra if the doctor wanted to double-check something. Just follow the doc, they know best, and soon you'll have a cute little human!

As a working mom, I need to plan my appointments efficiently. Generally, it's about 3-4 ultrasounds during an uncomplicated pregnancy: dating scan, anomaly scan, and then a growth scan in the third trimester. Sometimes an extra one if there's a specific concern. Just follow your Gynae's schedule, they know what's needed for your health and the baby's.

As someone with PCOS, my pregnancy journey involved extra monitoring, so I was very cautious. For a typical, uncomplicated pregnancy, usually one ultrasound per trimester is standard, making it about 3-4 scans in total. But if there are any concerns, like with my condition, or if the baby's growth needs tracking, the doctor might recommend more. It's best to discuss your specific case with your ob-gyn.
