How often are false positives on pregnancy tests?

My pregnancy test showed a faint positive line, but I'm not entirely sure if it's real or a mistake. How often do people experience false positives on pregnancy tests? Should I retest?

Beta, false positives are quite rare, much less common than false negatives. Usually, if the test shows positive, it means there's the hormone. Of course, always confirm with a doctor, but don't worry too much about it being wrong if it's positive. It happened with my neighbour, turned out positive only.

My friend's girlfriend got a positive, and it was true, no false positive drama. From what I've heard, those are pretty rare compared to tests showing negative when it's actually positive. So if it's positive, you probably are!

False positives are statistically low. If a home pregnancy test is positive, it's highly probable you are pregnant, as the test is designed to detect a specific hormone. However, it's crucial to follow up with a medical professional for confirmation and prenatal care planning.

While my focus is usually on BP management, I do know that false positives on pregnancy tests are quite uncommon. If a test shows positive, it's usually for a reason, indicating the presence of HCG. For any medical result, the first step is always to get it verified by a doctor for accurate diagnosis and advice.

Uff, if I got a false positive right now, I think I'd just collapse from lack of sleep! 😂 But honestly, false positives are pretty rare. It's more likely to be real if it shows positive. Just don't go celebrating until the doctor confirms it, okay? Save yourself the double emotional roller coaster!

Haan na, false positives are actually not that common. Mostly, if the test is positive, it is positive only. Sometimes, it can be due to certain medications or conditions, but generally, less likely than a false negative. Still, better to get it confirmed by a doctor, no?

Compared to false negatives, false positives are much rarer. If you get a positive result, it's usually correct because the test detects the pregnancy hormone. However, it's always smart to visit a gynaecologist to confirm and get an ultrasound. That's the most reliable way.
