How much sleep do seniors need?

My father, who is 70, always complains about not sleeping well through the night. He says he barely gets 5-6 hours. I was trying to find out, how much sleep do seniors generally need for their health? Does it change with age?

My parents are in their 70s, and they usually get about 6-7 hours at night, sometimes with a small nap in the afternoon. The main thing is comfort and routine. Make sure their room is quiet and dark. Simple things make a big difference for them.

When you get older, your body just doesn't need as much sleep, or it comes in bits and pieces. I used to worry, but my doctor told me it's normal. As long as they're not feeling constantly tired, 6-7 hours is usually enough. Just make sure they are comfortable.

My granddad barely sleeps 6 hours at night, but he's up doing puja by 6 AM! Then he takes a quick nap in the afternoon. So I guess for them, it's less about one long stretch and more about broken sleep. Seems to work for him.

Seniors often experience changes in sleep architecture, meaning they might sleep less deeply or wake more frequently. Generally, 7-8 hours is a good target, but it can vary. Focus on maintaining a consistent sleep schedule and comfortable environment. If there are persistent issues, a doctor's advice is always best.

Don't worry too much about exact numbers for seniors. Their sleep patterns naturally change. What's important is that they feel rested and active during the day. If they seem tired all the time, then it's worth checking with a doctor, just to be safe.

Seniors? Lucky them! I hear they need like 7-8 hours. My dad, he's 65, he sleeps like a baby. Me? I'm barely getting 5-6 hours with this work schedule. Maybe I should start taking naps like them!

Hey, don't stress too much about the exact hours. For seniors, it's often about quality over just quantity. My nani takes a lot of short naps during the day and gets maybe 6-7 at night, and she's super active. Just make sure they're comfortable and relaxed.

Jab umar ho jaati hai, neend thodi kam ho jaati hai, beta. 6-7 ghante bhi bohot hai. Raat ko sone se pehle garam doodh peena ya pairon mein tel malish karna, yeh sab chote-chote tareeke sukoon dete hai. Lekin agar zyada takleef ho, toh doctor se pooch lena chahiye.

Even for seniors, staying active helps with sleep quality. Light walks, some stretching. My nani, she's 80, still does her morning walk. She sleeps well, about 7 hours. Diet also plays a role, light dinners are better for everyone, especially older people.

There's a lot of info online, but for seniors, it's best to rely on professional advice. Their needs can be quite specific, especially if they have underlying health conditions. Always ask their doctor about sleep recommendations, don't just follow internet tips blindly.
