How much is weight loss surgery?

My weight is becoming a big health issue, and my family doctor suggested looking into weight loss surgery. It sounds like a big step, but I need to know roughly what the cost would be here in India before I even consider it. Any idea?

I tried everything from warm honey-lemon water to herbal powders for years, but sometimes obesity is a real medical issue. In India, bariatric surgery usually starts from around 2.5 lakhs and can go up to 5 lakhs in big hospitals. It is a major step, but for many, it is the only thing that works after everything else fails.

Yeah, it usually ranges between 3 to 6 lakhs in most metro cities depending on the room category. Definitely a big investment but life-changing for many.

Honestly, reading about these costs at 3 AM is making my head spin! It is definitely pricey, easily a few lakhs, which makes me think maybe I should just wake up at 5 AM and actually run instead of just dreaming about it.

Surgery is a serious medical step with permanent changes to your digestive tract. Before worrying about the cost, please get a thorough evaluation from a qualified bariatric surgeon to see if you even qualify for it safely.

Completely agree with everyone here. You should check with insurance too, because nowadays many corporate policies actually cover bariatric surgery if it is medically necessary.

I know how overwhelming it is to even research this, and the fear of the cost and the procedure can give you sleepless nights. It is totally normal to feel anxious about the financial part. Just take it one step at a time and talk to a hospital coordinator to get an exact break-up of the packages.

I totally get it, trying to figure out these huge medical costs can be so stressful. In most good private hospitals, it is around 3 to 4.5 lakhs, but please don't lose heart. Many places offer easy monthly EMI options now to help manage the burden.
