How much does 1 kidney cost?

My uncle is critically ill and needs a kidney. We're trying to understand all the expenses involved, so I was wondering, how much does one kidney typically cost?

It's important to know that selling or buying organs is illegal in India, so a kidney doesn't have a 'cost' in that sense. If you're a donor, your health is paramount. Make sure you get all your tests, including thyroid function, thoroughly checked and follow up with your doctor carefully.

I was looking for a kidney for my mother last year, and it's a very regulated process. There's no cost to buy one legally. It's about finding a matching donor, usually within the family, and all medical expenses for the donation procedure are covered by the recipient's side, but no cash exchange.

Cost? Beta, a kidney is priceless! You can't put a price tag on a life-saving organ, especially since selling them is illegal here. Maybe in a black market Bollywood movie, but not in real life. Good health is the real treasure!

I totally get why you're asking, maybe out of concern or desperation. But legally, a kidney doesn't have a price in India because buying/selling organs is strictly prohibited. It's a humanitarian act of donation, primarily from close relatives.

Child, a human body part is not something you can buy or sell. It is against our dharma and the law. If someone needs a kidney, it is a donation from the heart. For any health concern, it is always best to consult a good doctor.

As someone with a chronic condition, I understand the gravity of organ failure. It's important to clarify that in India, selling organs is illegal, so there's no legal 'cost' for a kidney. Donation is typically from family members, and the recipient covers the medical expenses of the donor. Be very cautious about any information suggesting otherwise.

Just to clarify, in India, organ trafficking is a serious offense. You cannot legally buy or sell a kidney. Donations happen through altruism, mainly from living related donors or cadaveric donations. All medical costs for the donor are usually borne by the recipient's insurance or family, but no cash compensation.
