How much'd mannose cause kidney damage?

My wife has frequent UTIs and someone suggested she try D-mannose. We're a bit concerned about side effects. Can D-mannose cause kidney damage if taken regularly?

Look, D-Mannose is generally safe for UTI prevention, but taking massive doses without any reason can stress your kidneys. Don't go beyond 2 grams a day, and make sure you drink plenty of water.

Don't panic. Standard doses of 1 to 2 grams daily for UTIs are quite safe for most people. Just don't self-medicate with high amounts for a long time, and let your doctor know if you have any pre-existing kidney issues.

Instead of relying too much on supplements like D-Mannose, try adding natural unsweetened cranberry juice and lots of water to your diet. It's much gentler on your kidneys and digestive system.

Because of my thyroid, I am very cautious about what supplements I take. High doses of D-Mannose can affect blood sugar and kidney filtration, so please get your kidney function tests (KFT) done and consult your doctor regularly.

I totally get it, when you are dealing with chronic UTIs, you just want to try anything to make the pain stop. But please be careful with D-Mannose doses because excess of any supplement can put pressure on your kidneys. Talk to a doc first.

I used to cry from the pain of recurring UTIs and took D-Mannose daily out of sheer desperation. I was so scared I was ruining my kidneys, but my doctor put me on a safe, monitored dose which gave me peace of mind.
