How many hours of sleep is required?

Been feeling very groggy lately, even after sleeping for what feels like a decent time. I want to know exactly how much sleep is *required* for a healthy adult. Maybe I'm just not getting enough.

Initially, I used to panic if I didn't get exactly 8 hours, thinking something was wrong. But then I realized my body functions perfectly fine on 7 hours if it's quality sleep. Don't stress too much about the number, just focus on feeling rested.

For someone with diabetes like me, consistent sleep is non-negotiable. My doctor said 7-8 hours is required to help regulate hormones and blood sugar. Also, late dinners, especially heavy or sweet ones, really mess with my sleep, so I avoid them.

Required? My toddler requires me to be awake at 3 AM! So, 'required' is a fluid concept for me, lol. But yeah, if I manage 6, it's a good day. Otherwise, coffee is my required intake. In an ideal world, 7-8 hours is the target.

As a college student, required sleep is like, whatever hours I can squeeze in between assignments and exams! But when I actually get a proper 7-8 hours, the difference in my focus and mood is huge. So definitely try for that, if possible.

Don't ignore prolonged sleep issues. I used to think I was fine with 5 hours, but I was constantly tired and irritable. Turns out I had an underlying health issue. Please get a checkup if your sleep is consistently poor, it's not normal.

Oh, this question makes me anxious too! I'm always worried if I'm getting enough or too little. From what I've read and asked my doctor, 7 to 9 hours is the general guideline for most adults. Just try to keep it consistent, that's what helps me manage my overthinking.
