How many hours of sleep do 8 year olds need?

My 8-year-old son has been struggling to wake up for school lately. He goes to bed at 9 PM and wakes at 7 AM. Is that enough sleep for an 8-year-old, or does he need more?

Hey! For 8 year olds, it's usually around 9-12 hours. But honestly, don't stress too much if it's not exact every night. As long as they wake up fresh and energetic, it's probably fine. Every kid is a bit different, na?

I totally get it, it's easy to worry about these things. My nephew is also 8, and his mom says he sleeps for about 10 hours on average. Some days it's more, some days a little less, especially if there's school or activities. Focus on a consistent bedtime routine, that helps a lot.

Oh God, this sleep thing always makes me anxious! I've read so many articles, and for 8-year-olds, they say 9-12 hours, right? What if they don't get enough? Are they going to be tired in school? It's better to stick to a routine as much as possible, just to be safe. My friend's son sleeps like 9.5 hours daily.

It's good you're thinking about your child's well-being. Generally, 9 to 12 hours is what I hear for that age. Just ensure they have a peaceful environment for sleep, and a calm mind helps too. Stay positive and keep taking good care of them.

I can only tell you about my own son when he was 8. He used to sleep for about 10 hours every night, sometimes 11 on weekends. He was always an early riser though, so we made sure he went to bed by 8:30-9 PM. Every child has different needs, so see what works for your little one and if they seem rested.

Proper sleep is crucial, not just for kids but for us elders too. For an 8-year-old, around 10-12 hours is usually recommended by doctors. Lifestyle plays a big part in sleep quality. Make sure they're not on screens too late. If you're concerned about consistent patterns, a quick chat with your pediatrician is always a good idea, just like I have to keep checking my BP.
