How many calories to eat for weight gain?

I'm a bit underweight for my height and want to gain some muscle and overall body mass. My trainer said I need to eat in a calorie surplus, but I'm not sure how many extra calories I should target daily or weekly to gain weight properly.

Yaar, weight gain ke liye calories toh khaani padengi but it's not just about quantity. Quality bhi matter karta hai. Mere ek friend ne bas junk khaake gain kiya, but phir health issues ho gaye. Actually, clean bulk karna chahiye, protein aur healthy fats zyada. Consult a dietician once, best rahega.

Please be careful with this, I tried to gain weight aggressively once by just eating a lot, and it messed up my digestion badly. Ended up with acidity and feeling super sluggish. It's always best to get a doctor or a registered dietitian's advice to ensure you're doing it in a healthy way that suits your body.

Honestly, I used to stress so much about gaining weight. I'd count every single calorie and then get disappointed. Later, I realized consistency and eating nutrient-dense food was more important than just hitting a random calorie number. Don't panic, just focus on good food and maybe some strength training, it will happen.

Calories for weight gain? Haha, right now I'd eat anything if it meant I could get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. But seriously, it depends on your current weight, activity level, and metabolism. For me, if I just look at food, I gain weight. But for others it's a real struggle! Maybe start with 300-500 extra clean calories than your maintenance.

The exact number of calories for weight gain is very individual specific, depending on your BMR, activity level, and current body composition. While general advice suggests a surplus of 300-500 calories, consulting a doctor or a certified nutritionist is the most advisable step. They can provide a personalized plan to ensure healthy and sustainable weight gain.

For weight gain, you need to be in a caloric surplus, that's basic. But what kind of calories matters a lot for healthy weight gain (muscle not just fat). Focus on protein intake, around 1.6-2.2g per kg of body weight, and then fill the rest with complex carbs and healthy fats. And lift weights, otherwise it'll just be fat gain.

As a working professional, I know finding time for detailed meal prep can be tough. For weight gain, try adding calorie-dense but healthy options like nuts, seeds, avocado, and full-fat dairy into your regular meals. Liquid calories like smoothies with protein powder are also super easy when you're busy. Consistency is key, even with small changes.
