How long until positive pregnancy test?

I missed my period a few days ago, and I'm really hoping to see a positive on a pregnancy test. I took one today but it was negative. How long should I wait until a pregnancy test is more likely to show a positive result?

I just went through this last month! I got a very faint positive line exactly 12 days after ovulation, which was 2 days before my missed period. It is best to wait for the actual missed period date to avoid the confusion of faint lines.

My mother always tells us to wait at least a week after a missed period before checking, to let nature work. However, our family doctor says modern kits can detect it on the very first day of your missed cycle. It is best to trust the science and test on that day.

Beta, don't try any home methods like sugar or salt tests, they don't work and only cause confusion. Just buy a proper kit from the chemist and use it 14 days after your cycle date. Drink warm milk, stay calm, and let the correct time come.

Honestly, don't even bother testing before your period is actually late. It takes like 10 to 14 days for the hormone to show up anyway, so testing early is just a waste of money and a major head stress.

Usually, it takes about 14 days after conception to get a clear positive on a home test. Wishing you all the very best, take good care of yourself.

Stop looking up weird hacks online to get an early positive. No amount of toothpaste or vinegar tests work. Only a proper medical urine strip used after your missed period or a lab blood test is scientifically valid. Ask your gynecologist if you are in doubt.

Please be cautious and wait until your period is late. During my first pregnancy, I kept getting negative home tests but had an ectopic pregnancy, which was caught late. If you miss your period and feel severe pain, please go straight to a doctor instead of waiting for a positive strip.
