How long to abstain from alcohol to repair liver?

My husband has been drinking quite a bit lately, and his liver reports are not looking good. We want to help him make a change. For how long would he need to completely stop alcohol for his liver to actually start repairing itself?

Liver repair is a long process and varies for everyone. My thyroid issues taught me the importance of regular checkups. For liver, you really need to consult a hepatologist. They can guide you on abstinence duration, diet, and lifestyle changes based on your specific condition and reports.

Beta, for liver health, avoiding alcohol completely is the best. Liver has amazing healing power, but it needs time and care. Some traditional wisdom says bitter gourds and turmeric can help, but always talk to a doctor. They know best about how much damage is there and what to do.

Repairing liver? Ha! That sounds like a full-time job. Honestly, the longer you abstain, the better. My liver probably needs a vacation itself after all these years. Seriously though, consult a specialist; they'll tell you how much damage is there and what's possible.

For something as serious as liver repair, please don't rely on general advice. The extent of repair depends on the damage. You really, really need to see a doctor and get proper tests done. Only they can tell you a timeline and what specific steps you need to take.

Hey, it's great that you're thinking about repairing your liver. That's a huge positive step. There's no fixed timeline for everyone; it depends a lot on individual factors and the extent of any previous damage. The most important thing is to completely stop alcohol and follow a doctor's advice diligently. They'll monitor your progress.

I've been there, man. It took me a good year of complete abstinence and strict diet to see significant improvement in my LFTs and ultrasound. It's not just about stopping alcohol, but also a healthy diet and lifestyle change. Be patient and disciplined, and keep in close touch with your gastroenterologist. It's possible.
