How long to abstain from alcohol before liver function test?

My doctor has asked me to get a liver function test done next week. I usually have a few drinks on weekends. Should I stop drinking completely before the test, and if so, for how many days?

I totally get why you're asking this! It's confusing when you hear different things. Honestly, my doc asked me to avoid alcohol for at least 48-72 hours before my LFT. Best to check with your own doctor once to be super sure.

Generally, it's advised to avoid alcohol for at least 2-3 days (48-72 hours) before a liver function test. Alcohol can temporarily elevate some liver enzymes, which might give inaccurate results. So yeah, play it safe.

Hey! 😊 My doctor told me to stop alcohol for at least 3 days before any liver tests. Better to be safe than sorry, right? That way, you get the most accurate picture! Good luck with your test! 👍

Achha, good question. These tests are expensive, na? So you don't want to mess up the results and have to repeat it. I'd say give it a good 3 days, just to be on the safer side. Phir se test karana is waste of money.

Oh, I was wondering the same thing! My doctor said 48 hours, but I'm worried if that's enough. Does anyone else feel like they need to abstain longer, just in case? I always get anxious about these results.
