How long should a fever last in a child?

My son has had a fever for two days now and I'm getting worried. I've been giving him medicines as prescribed, but it's not completely gone. How long is a fever typically supposed to last in a child before it's a concern?

Paani pilaate raho bas.

It's so worrying when your child has a fever! Generally, a common viral fever can last for about 2-3 days. If it goes beyond 3 days, or if the fever is very high and not coming down, or if the child seems very unwell, definitely consult the doctor. Keep them hydrated!

Oh man, a fever in kids is no fun! Usually, it should pass in 2-3 days for typical viral stuff. But if they're not eating at all, or seem really dull, then it's a big red flag. Make sure they get plenty of fluids, maybe some soup or dal ka paani. Proper nourishment helps with recovery, just like good food makes us happy!

Oh, fever in children is scary. So, is it normal if it lasts for two full days, or is even one day too much? What if it's very mild but persistent?

Yaar, don't stress too much, but always keep an eye on it. A normal fever from a common cold or viral infection usually clears up in 2-3 days. If it's still there after 3 days, or if the temperature is really high, then pakka call the doc. And give them lots of fluids!

As a general rule of thumb, most viral fevers in children resolve within 2-3 days. If it's been consistently high, not responding to medication, or if there are other concerning symptoms like difficulty breathing or extreme lethargy, don't wait. See your pediatrician right away. Keep them hydrated with ORS or coconut water.
