How long is pregnancy leave?

I'm expecting my first child next year, and I'm trying to understand my company's policy for maternity leave. How long is pregnancy leave usually in India, or what's the standard duration? I need to plan my work accordingly.

Most places in India give 26 weeks of paid maternity leave. It's a good time to rest and bond with the baby. Take care.

Okay, so generally it's 26 weeks of paid maternity leave in India as per the law. Some companies offer more, so check your HR policy. It's a good idea to track your leave days using an app too, helps with planning!

It's natural to worry about how long you'll be out of work, I had similar anxieties during a health scare. For pregnancy, generally, the Maternity Benefit Act in India allows for 26 weeks of paid leave. It’s a good duration, giving you time to recover and adjust. Don't let the thought stress you out too much.

From my experience, I got 26 weeks off for both my pregnancies. My company was quite good about it. You usually start it a bit before your due date and then continue after. It felt like a decent amount of time to be with the baby.

Beta, earlier it was less, but now thankfully the government gives 26 weeks. It is enough time for new mothers to heal and take care of the newborn. Don't worry, it goes by fast, so cherish every moment.
