How long has glp-1 been used for weight loss?

A friend of mine is considering GLP-1 injections for weight loss and was asking about its history. Can anyone tell me, for how long has GLP-1 actually been used for helping with weight loss? Is it a recent thing or has it been around for a while?

GLP-1 drugs have been used in diabetes management since about 2005-2006. For weight loss as a primary indication, their approval and widespread use are more recent, probably in the last 5-10 years. If you're considering it, especially with thyroid issues, a thorough discussion with your endocrinologist and regular follow-ups are crucial, as it can interact with your existing conditions.

Hey, GLP-1 agonists have been around for diabetes treatment for a while, since the mid-2000s. Their use for weight loss specifically is more recent, gaining significant attention and regulatory approvals for that indication in the last decade or so. It's not a brand new concept, but its application for obesity is newer.

Oh, GLP-1s! They've been helping diabetics for ages, since before I even knew what a full night's sleep felt like, haha. But for actual weight loss for non-diabetics, it's a more recent trend, probably in the last 5-7 years, gaining a lot of buzz. Sometimes I wish there was an injection for instant energy instead.

GLP-1 medications have been prescribed for type 2 diabetes treatment for about 15-20 years now, starting around the mid-2000s. Their specific use for weight loss in individuals without diabetes is a more recent development, with some gaining approval in the last 5-10 years. It's a powerful tool but requires careful medical supervision, especially for managing blood sugar levels.

Yaar, actually, GLP-1 agonists have been around for treating diabetes since like, the mid-2000s. But for *only* weight loss, that's a more recent thing, getting proper approvals and traction in the last 5-10 years. So, not totally new, but new for that specific use, you know?

GLP-1s have been used for diabetes management since around 2005. Their specific use for weight loss in people without diabetes is a more recent, perhaps 5-10 year-old development in terms of widespread approval. Don't believe every sensational headline you see online. Always verify the information and the necessity of such treatments with a qualified medical professional, not just random opinions.

GLP-1 drugs have a history in diabetes treatment since around 2005. Their application for weight loss for the general population is a newer development, really taking off in the last decade. If you're considering this for weight loss, please consult a doctor. Don't self-diagnose or self-medicate based on internet info; I made that mistake once and it was not good. Get a proper medical opinion.
