How long does wisdom tooth pain last after removal?

Had my wisdom tooth extracted yesterday, and the pain is really bothering me. My dentist said it would be sore, but I'm just curious how long this discomfort usually lasts after the removal. Hoping it gets better soon.

Based on my experience, the intense pain after wisdom tooth removal lasted about 2-3 days for me. After that, it was more of a dull ache and discomfort for another week or so. I strictly followed the doctor's instructions. This is just my personal account, not advice, so please follow your surgeon's guidance.

Alright, so after wisdom tooth removal, the first 48-72 hours are generally the worst. Expect significant pain and swelling. After that, it should gradually improve over the next 5-7 days. Keep up with your pain meds, use ice packs, and strictly stick to soft foods. Don't use a straw and avoid smoking, that's crucial for preventing dry socket. By day 7-10, most people are feeling pretty much back to normal, just a bit sensitive.

Usually, the peak pain is the first 2-3 days post-surgery. After that, it should subside gradually. You'll likely feel some discomfort for a week, but major pain should be gone. If it's persistent or getting worse after 3-4 days, call your oral surgeon immediately, could be a dry socket or infection.

Wisdom tooth pain after removal depends on the complexity, but usually, it's intense for a few days. Factor in the cost of good painkillers and soft foods for a week. Sometimes, follow-up visits or extra meds are needed, so keep a small buffer in your budget. Plan for a few days off work if possible, it's not a small thing.

After wisdom tooth removal, your diet is super important. Stick to soft, bland vegetarian foods like daal-chawal, mashed potatoes, or smoothies for the first week to avoid irritating the extraction site. The pain generally starts to ease after 3-4 days with proper diet and medication. Avoid anything crunchy or spicy completely.
