How long does post pregnancy bleeding last?

I recently had my delivery, and I'm still experiencing some bleeding, which is a bit concerning. The nurse said it's normal lochia, but I want to know more. How long does post-pregnancy bleeding typically last?

Post-pregnancy bleeding, called lochia, is a normal part of recovery. It typically lasts for about 4 to 6 weeks, though it can sometimes go on for up to 8 weeks. It starts heavy and bright red, then usually gets lighter, turning pink, brown, and finally yellowish-white. It's important to monitor it and contact your doctor if it suddenly gets heavy again or has a foul smell.

Hello! This is a very common and normal part of postpartum recovery. Post-pregnancy bleeding, or lochia, typically lasts for about 4 to 6 weeks. It changes in colour and consistency over time – starting red and heavy, then getting lighter and turning pink, brown, and eventually yellowish-white. If you notice any sudden heavy bleeding, large clots, or a foul smell, please contact your doctor immediately.

Oh my god, I remember how much I panicked about this after my first baby! It felt like it would never end. But it's totally normal. For me, it lasted almost 6 weeks, getting lighter and changing color. Don't worry, it's just your body healing. Just keep an eye out for anything really heavy or smelly, but otherwise, it's fine.

I just had my baby a few months ago, so I'm fresh with this! My bleeding (lochia) lasted for about 5 weeks. It was heavy and bright red for the first week, then slowly got lighter and turned brownish, and finally yellowish. It's totally normal, just make sure you're using pads and not tampons, and keep an eye on any really heavy flow or bad smell, then see your doc.

Post-delivery bleeding, or lochia, can last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks, sometimes even up to 8. It's a natural process as your body recovers. The flow and color will change. Monitor for excessive bleeding or unusual odors, and consult your OB-GYN if concerned.
