How long does nerve pain last after surgery?

My mother recently had knee surgery, and she's complaining about nerve pain in her leg, which her doctor said is normal. I'm wondering, how long does nerve pain typically last after surgery? We want to know what to expect for her recovery.

Nerve irritation can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months to heal. Please do not ignore it if the burning or numbness keeps increasing like I did, thinking it was just normal surgical healing. Get it evaluated by your surgeon to ensure there is no nerve compression.

Nerve regeneration is a very slow process, sometimes taking 3 to 6 months. Once your doctor allows, starting light, low-impact walking and gentle mobility exercises can really improve blood flow and help speed up your nerve recovery.

Haan, surgery ke baad nerve pain thoda lamba chalta hai, nasein heal hone mein easily 2-3 mahine le leti hain. Doctor ne jo nerve recovery ki dawai di hai usko time par lena, beech mein mat chhodna na.

I had knee surgery last year and the weird tingling and sharp nerve pain lasted for about 6 weeks. It was super annoying, especially at night, but it gradually faded away on its own. Just give it some time.

The burning sensation near the stitches actually lasted for almost 2 months for me, yaar. My doctor told me it's just the tiny nerves trying to knit back together. It's totally normal but definitely very irritating.

Honestly, dealing with that constant shooting nerve pain for 3 months after my surgery was mentally so exhausting and depressing. It feels like you will never get better, but please stay strong because nerves heal very slowly but they do heal.

According to my neurosurgeon, peripheral nerves heal at a rate of about 1mm per day, which is why post-op nerve discomfort can persist for 3 to 6 months. It is crucial to stay on the prescribed neuromodulator medications to manage the pain signals effectively during this healing window.

I am 4 weeks post-op and still feel this intense electric-shock like pain around my incision site. Did anyone else experience this kind of sharp nerve pain so long after their surgery? I am starting to worry if something went wrong.
