How long does knee replacement pain last?

My neighbour just had a knee replacement and is complaining a lot about the pain. I am also considering the surgery, so I was curious. For how long does the pain from a knee replacement usually last?

My grandmother had this done recently. Honestly, the first 3 to 4 weeks were pretty rough for her, but by the second month, she was moving around much better. It takes about 3 to 6 months to feel completely normal, so just have some patience!

The sharp pain starts fading after 4-6 weeks, and then it gets better every single day! 😊 Just keep up with your physiotherapy sessions and celebrate the small wins. Within 3 months, you'll be walking with a big smile!

I completely understand the anxiety you might be feeling seeing the persistent pain after such a big surgery. My uncle went through this, and the first month was emotionally tough for him due to the discomfort. But please hang in there, the pain decreases dramatically by the 6th week.

My mom's knee surgery kept me awake for the first three weeks because of her nighttime pain and ice pack rotations. Honestly, the severe pain lasts about a month, but the sleep deprivation for the caregiver feels much longer! Hang in there, it definitely gets better after 6 weeks.

It takes around 6 weeks for the major pain to subside, which is plenty of time to plan all the cheat meals you'll enjoy once you can walk properly! Just make sure to eat light, nutritious food now so you don't gain weight while resting. Happy healing!

The pain takes about 2 to 3 months to settle down. Just like keeping thyroid levels balanced requires regular monitoring, you must have close follow-ups with your orthopedic doctor to adjust pain meds. Don't skip your scheduled checkups.
