How long does it take pregnancy test to show positive?

I'm a few days late on my period and I'm really anxious to know if I'm pregnant. How long after conception does it typically take for a pregnancy test to show a positive result?

It can show a faint positive about 12-14 days after ovulation, but for an accurate result, just wait until the day of your missed period. Testing too early only leads to unnecessary confusion and negative results even if you are pregnant.

Actually, my wife tested a day before her missed period and we got a very light line, yaar. If you test too early, the hormone levels are too low. It's best to use the first morning urine for the most accurate result.

My doctor told me that while some sensitive tests can detect hCG about 10 days after conception, a reliable positive usually shows up 1 to 2 days after your missed period. Testing early can sometimes give false negatives because the hormone concentration doubles every 48 hours.

Most home kits say you can test from the first day of your missed period. If you do it earlier, it might not show up because the hCG levels are super low. Better to wait a couple of days after your missed date to be totally sure.

A home test can show positive a day or two after your missed period. But if you have severe cramping or light spotting along with a faint positive, please consult a doctor immediately. I had an ectopic pregnancy that started like this, so caution is always best.

It usually takes about 1 to 2 days after your missed period to get a clear positive line. Just make sure to use the first urine of the day.
