How long does it take for tb to show up?

A relative of mine was recently exposed to someone with TB. He's been feeling a bit tired, and we're concerned. How long after exposure does it typically take for TB symptoms to actually show up, if someone has contracted it? Should he get tested right away or wait?

In many cases, the TB bacteria can stay quiet in the body for months or even years without showing anything. But once the active symptoms start, like a cough that lasts more than 2-3 weeks, you should get a sputum test done at any government clinic.

With our heavy pollution, a cough is common, but if it stays for weeks with fever, it could be TB showing up. The bacteria can take its sweet time of a few months to manifest active symptoms. Don't wait for it to become a permanent guest, get tested.

I completely understand how terrifying it is to worry about having TB, I went through the same fear last year. Active symptoms usually take about 4 to 12 weeks to appear. Please try to stay calm and visit a doctor to get a simple chest X-ray done for your peace of mind.

Haan, TB ka bacteria body mein passive pada reh sakta hai bahut time tak. Jab immunity thodi low hoti hai tabhi symptoms dikhte hain na. Agar teen hafte se zyada khansi hai toh checkup karva lo.

According to the specialist I spoke to, active TB symptoms typically develop within 2 to 12 weeks after exposure. However, latent TB can remain dormant for years and may never show up unless the immune system weakens. If you suspect exposure, a Mantoux test or IGRA blood test is recommended.

Don't rely on online opinions to decide if your symptoms are TB or not. The incubation period varies wildly from weeks to years. Only a proper medical test at a diagnostic lab can verify this, so see a doctor immediately.

TB is like that lazy roommate who lies on the sofa for months doing nothing, and then suddenly starts making a mess. It can show up in a few weeks or take years to wake up. If you have a persistent cough, just get it checked and kick it out!

If you have symptoms, go to a government DOTS center where TB tests and medicines are completely free of cost. Private labs can charge quite a bit for these tests. Active symptoms usually show up in 2-3 months after catching the infection.
