How long do liver enzymes stay elevated after gallbladder removal?

My mother recently had her gallbladder removed, and she's recovering well. Her follow-up blood tests showed some elevated liver enzymes. The doctor said it's normal, but we're curious. How long do liver enzymes typically stay elevated after gallbladder removal surgery?

This is a good question. Post-surgery, the body definitely takes time to adjust. Hope you're recovering well!

After my surgery, I had some enzyme fluctuations, but I ignored it. Later found out it was a small complication. Please, don't ignore anything. Usually, they should stabilize within a few weeks, but if they persist, get it checked by your surgeon immediately. Better safe than sorry!

I totally get that you're worried about this. Post-gallbladder removal, it's pretty normal for liver enzymes to be slightly elevated for a little while, usually a few weeks, as your body adjusts. Your doctor will likely schedule follow-up tests to monitor it.

Haan ji, gallbladder removal ke baad, liver enzymes thode time ke liye high reh sakte hain. Usually, 2 se 6 hafte tak normal ho jaate hain. Agar zyada time lag raha hai ya kuch aur symptoms hain, toh apne surgeon se baat karo na.

Dealing with any surgery is emotionally taxing, and then worrying about lab results just adds to it. My enzymes were up for about a month after my gallbladder surgery. It felt scary, but my doctor reassured me it was part of the healing. Keep following up, it's okay to feel anxious.

Post-cholecystectomy, transient elevation in liver enzymes is often observed. These levels typically normalize within 4-6 weeks as the body adapts to the absence of the gallbladder. Persistent elevation warrants further investigation by your doctor to rule out any bile duct issues.
