How long can you sleep on your stomach during pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and naturally prefer sleeping on my stomach, but everyone is telling me not to. I know it's not ideal, but sometimes I just want to for a little bit. How long can you sleep on your stomach during pregnancy before it becomes a problem?

During early pregnancy (first trimester), sleeping on your stomach is generally safe as the uterus is still low in the pelvis. However, as your belly grows and the uterus expands, it becomes uncomfortable and potentially unsafe for blood flow and pressure. Most recommend switching to side sleeping by the second trimester.

Oh, I totally panicked when my bump started showing and I'd sometimes wake up on my stomach by accident! But my gynaecologist said in the early stages it's fine, and later on, it'll just be too uncomfortable anyway. So don't stress too much, your body protects the baby naturally.

I used to love sleeping on my stomach! But after like, 16-20 weeks, it just became impossible and uncomfortable, plus my doctor advised against it. You automatically start shifting to your side as your bump grows. Don't worry, your body will tell you!

You can comfortably sleep on your stomach up until the end of the first trimester or early second, roughly 16-20 weeks. After that, your belly will be too big and it won't be safe or comfortable. Switch to side sleeping with pillows for support.

It's so normal to worry about every little thing during pregnancy, even sleep positions! Initially, sleeping on your stomach is safe because the baby is well-protected. But as your bump grows, it just becomes physically impossible and uncomfortable. So don't stress if you accidentally do it early on.
