How long can you be on phentermine for weight loss?

My doctor suggested phentermine for weight loss, and I've started it. I'm seeing some good results. I just want to know for how long is it generally safe or recommended to be on this medication?

Agreed with others, it is strictly a short-term medicine. Usually, doctors don't prescribe it for more than 12 weeks.

It's typically prescribed for 3 months at most because of its stimulant nature. If your doctor allows, combine it with a daily 45-minute brisk walk and basic strength training to maintain your weight loss even after you stop the pill.

This medication can raise your heart rate and blood pressure significantly. You must always get your vitals checked regularly by a qualified physician while on it, and never take it without a valid prescription.

These pills are short-term solutions and can have side effects on your heart. It's better to drink green tea, warm lemon honey water, and focus on clean eating, but definitely consult your doctor if you experience any severe dizziness or chest tightness.

My doctor told me it's only for 8-12 weeks, but I felt so jittery and had sleep issues on it. Did anyone else experience heavy heart palpitations or dry mouth while taking this?

When I consulted an endocrinologist at a top hospital, they explained that phentermine is FDA-approved only for short-term use, typically up to 12 weeks due to abuse potential. Please ask your doctor clearly about the exact timeline and taper-off plan.

This pill basically kills your appetite, but you can't rely on it forever as it's only meant for up to 12 weeks. I suggest using that time to actually learn portion control so you don't go back to overeating once the cycle ends!
