How long after unprotected sex pregnancy test?

Hi, I had unprotected sex a few days ago and I'm quite worried. I want to take a pregnancy test as soon as possible. How many days after unprotected sex should I take a pregnancy test for it to be reliable?

Beta, don't rely on old home methods like salt or sugar tests, they do not work. It is best to wait at least 14 days after that day to take a proper home pregnancy kit test, and use the first morning urine for the most accurate result.

I was in the exact same stressful situation a few months ago and took a test too early which made me panic more. The pregnancy hormone takes time to build up, so waiting 14 to 21 days gives the most accurate answer. Take a deep breath, it will be okay.

Since hormonal imbalances can also delay periods, it is best to test at least 2 weeks after unprotected sex. If the test is negative but your period is still delayed, consult your doctor for a proper blood test and checkup.

Stress can delay your cycle and raise your BP, so try to stay calm. The standard medical recommendation is to wait 14 days after the encounter to take a home test, or simply wait until the first day of your missed period.

For reliable results, wait 14 days after the intercourse for a preliminary test, and 21 days for a highly accurate result. Testing too early can easily give a false negative because the hCG hormone levels are too low to detect.

Beti, wait for at least 15 days before checking. Testing too soon will not show anything and will only make you worry. Stay calm and consult a doctor if you feel uneasy.

As a mother, I always tell young people to be patient with these things. Wait until you actually miss your expected period date before testing, or at least 14 days after the intercourse. It is the only way to get a clear and reliable answer.
