How long after sex is a pregnancy test accurate?

I'm trying to figure out the right time to take a pregnancy test because I had unprotected sex last week. How many days after sex is a pregnancy test considered accurate?

Since I have PCOS, my periods are always delayed, so I have to be very careful. Usually, a test is accurate around 14 to 21 days after sex. If your cycle is irregular like mine, it is best to test twice with a gap of a few days or check with a doctor.

I am not very sure about how these test kits work. Is it really accurate if I test exactly 14 days after sex, or should I wait longer? I am a bit nervous and would appreciate any guidance.

A standard home test will give you an accurate result about 14 days after sex. Don't waste time on home tricks like baking soda, they don't work. Use a good chemist brand test with your first morning urine for peace of mind.

If you want a reliable result, wait at least 14 days post-sex. Testing earlier is just a waste of time and will leave you guessing. If you are in a rush to know for sure, get a beta-hCG blood test done at a lab.

While home kits are mostly accurate after 14 to 19 days, false negatives do happen. If you have missed your period and still get negative results but feel off, please consult a gynecologist. Getting a clinical checkup is always the safest path.
