My doctor explained that lochia is just the uterus shedding its lining and can go on for up to 6 weeks. The flow should gradually decrease. If you are passing large clots, soaking more than one pad in an hour, or notice a foul smell, seek immediate medical attention.
Actually yaar, postpartum bleeding, or lochia, can last anywhere between 4 to 6 weeks. It starts heavy and red like a bad period, then slowly turns yellowish-white. Just make sure you use maternity pads instead of tampons to avoid infections.
In my case, I bled for about 4 weeks after my C-section. It would stop for a day or two and then start again lightly, which really confused me at first. Everyone's recovery timeline is a bit different.
I tracked my bleeding on my health app and it lasted exactly 5 weeks. It was heavy for the first 10 days, and then lightened up significantly. Tracking it daily really helps you notice if the flow suddenly increases, which you should tell your doctor about.
