How long after chemotherapy does hair fall out?

A close family member recently started chemotherapy. We're all trying to support her, and she's particularly concerned about the hair loss aspect. Approximately how long into her treatment will her hair start falling out?

I panicked completely when huge clumps started coming out on day 12 after my first cycle. But actually, it is the most standard reaction and it stops after a few weeks. Don't worry, it is just a sign the medicine is doing its job, and it will eventually grow back.

I am quite new to this and trying to support my aunt who has her first session next week. Does the hair loss also include eyebrows and eyelashes, or does that happen much later in the treatment?

Generally, shedding starts within 2 to 3 weeks of treatment. Alongside this, make sure to get your thyroid and hormone levels tested regularly as advised by your doctor, as other imbalances can also impact scalp health during recovery.

My mother's hair started shedding around 15 days after her first chemo. My grandmother suggested many home-made herbal oils, but we strictly checked with our oncologist first before putting anything on her sensitive scalp. Trusting your doctor's advice is always best.

It typically starts around 2 weeks after your first session. During this tough phase, I found that taking short, gentle walks in the morning helped keep my mood and energy up, as long as the doctor permitted it. Keep moving and stay positive.

The physical body goes through many changes during this healing journey, with hair loss usually beginning in 14 to 20 days. Just keep your mind peaceful, stay positive, and remember that this phase will also pass. Take care of your inner spirit.

You can expect the shedding to start in about 2 to 3 weeks. Honestly, during this time, focusing on your favorite comfort foods and staying hydrated is a great way to keep your mood happy. Treat yourself to some nice light home-cooked meals.

Actually yaar, it starts around the 10th or 12th day, and it can feel a bit weird at first. Many people in my support group suggested cutting it short before the first session to make the transition easier. Just take it one day at a time.
