How long after a stroke can you drink alcohol?

My neighbor had a stroke last year and is doing much better. He asked me yesterday if it's ever okay for him to have a drink again. How long after a stroke can someone safely drink alcohol, if at all?

After my stroke last year, my doctor strictly told me to avoid alcohol because it reacts terribly with blood thinners. Honestly, it is best to stay away from it completely to let your brain recover properly. Focus on your physiotherapy and diet instead.

I was reading about this recently and it seems alcohol can seriously interfere with stroke recovery and the blood thinners they prescribe. Most sources suggest avoiding it completely during the recovery phase. It is definitely not worth the risk.

Drinking alcohol after a stroke can significantly increase the risk of another episode and affect your brain's healing. Because of the medications involved, you must discuss this openly with your neurologist. Their professional medical advice is the safest path to follow.

I am quite new here and still trying to understand stroke care. Does alcohol affect the brain recovery directly, or is it mostly because of the medicine reactions? I hope you are taking good care of yourself.

Please do not take any chances with your health now. I once ignored high blood pressure warnings and suffered the consequences, so I know how vital medical discipline is. Please consult your specialist before touch any alcohol.
